1st and 15: Verse Three

Where do these weeks go? I thought when my kids were older I'd be more organized and have more time to get those long awaited "to-do's" done. Well, I've found I just pack my days with more stuff that I like to do. The laundry that once was for five is now for two but still remains a hassle. The decision as to what to make for dinner even seems harder now because it's hard not to make a large amount with lots of leftovers. Different seasons in life bring different challenges.

Thanks to this economy, the challenges for me now seem to be to remember that though we (actually just Chuck) work to make our living, God ultimately provides for our needs. Lately, like most of America, I've been watching the 401k turn into a 200.5k. It's easy when things are going well to be self confident and not look to God for help. We forget that we are defined by the Maker of all creation, not by the size of our portfolios. I really believe this downturn may bring revival to many and a much needed seeking for the truth. Christians know the only real road to joy and peace is through Jesus. Hopefully, many more in our nation and our neighborhoods will see that as well as they watch us endure the trials with grace. How is this downturn changing your witness for Christ? Wouldn't this be an awesome opportunity to help others in and around your community or even in your own family?

I've picked the following verses to remind me of just how faithful our God is! Please feel free to pick your own. I'd love to know how it's going for you. I've yet to get a real system, but I'm working on it. God makes us all with unique qualities so don't be bummed if you are having trouble. Just begin again! Thanks for doing life with me!

Psalm 55:22-Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18- 16 Be joyful always; 17 pray continually; 18 give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

John 15:12- My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.

Psalm 34:4-7- 4 I sought the LORD, and he answered me;
he delivered me from all my fears.

5 Those who look to him are radiant;
their faces are never covered with shame.

6 This poor man called, and the LORD heard him;
he saved him out of all his troubles.

7 The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him,
and he delivers them.

Isaiah 41:10- So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

I'm choosing Psalm 34. Thank you God for these amazing promises!

Marci,
The news has been overwhelming, but I am so glad that we can rest in God's promises.
