So, as Chuck made his way into the kitchen, panic set in as the footsteps grew louder. "I don't have them ready to go." I thought. Well, he decided to just leave them with me to make tuna salad later. Off the hook! I could finish my bible study then peel them. Well, 2 hours later, I tried. Here are the results:
One for six. You've got to be kidding me. So, I am sitting at the computer analyzing my egg problems. I googled "how to boil an egg". Yes, there are a myriad of articles and some great videos as well. You know that you can totally spend hours reading about boiling eggs! Here's a video that made me excited about attempting this again:
So, what can I learn from this? I've been trying to "encourage" God to hurry up and fix some things in my family and in this nation. It's kinda like "God, we need a miracle here, I can't handle any more, now, let's do it! I know you can." What am I, God's cheerleader? I think I supply comic relief in the heavens.
Clearly in His word it states that God has plans for our lives and for the lives of those around us. We cannot speed up their growth process anymore than we can speed up the time it takes for the eggs to be fully cooked. God has the "recipe" for their life story and he is weaving it into their beautiful tapestry. Just as He has given me a story to share, theirs will be unique and full of his fingerprints.
My responsibility is to pray for and encourage them. I'm called live a life that shows them the freedom I've discovered from the grace God has given me. A life of joy, triumph over adversity and full of an authentic love for all men. Lord, give me patience and a complete trust in your plans! Forgive me for advising you! Thank you God for showing up even in my not-so-hard-boiled eggs!!
1 Peter 1:6-9- In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. 7 These have come so that your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. 8 Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, 9 for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.
