God's Healing Power

Well, it has been a wild couple of weeks for me. My life is usually a bit boring but, frankly, I'm exhausted, but in a really good way! I've been to Kairos at Gateway Church which really stretched me but I just love learning about God, looking up all those things that they were teaching, praying about what God wanted me to see so I could use it to help others. I've been to the Women of Faith conference at the American Airlines Center and spent the night at the Crescent hotel in Dallas with a group from Crosstimbers church. It was a great experience and I just loved spending time with the CT women, even more than the conference.

You know, physically, it was hard but it was worth it. Sometimes, you just have to go for it and I've really been doing that these last two weeks. I just so enjoyed the company of women of God. Women who have walked by faith in the midst of cancer, disability, loss of a child, parenting a child with disability and parenting a child who was just miraculously healed. I roomed with Julie who I met because her daughter Megan became a paraplegic last February and, since I also have a spinal cord injury, we had connected. Megan was healed last week. No, I am not kidding!!!!!!

On August 18th, at 6:51 in the morning I get a text message from Megan. It reads "Jesus, our Almighty God, healed me last night. With a man this is impossible but through Jesus all things are possible". I thought to myself- Megan has had a psychotic break! So I texted back: "What happened?" thinking maybe she moved a toe or something, you know. At 6:56 she texts back "I'm walking girl, running!" So, I'm stunned. I text back "Wow! I'm so happy for you!" All morning, I was just rereading the text, making sure I wasn't having a psychotic break. Nope, Megan is walking, that is what it says. I told my daughter and husband but prefaced it with, "You're not gonna believe this text I got from Megan".

So, here I sit, a walking miracle, and I was still doubting that God, who made the heavens and the earth, could do something so big. I kept waiting to hear otherwise. Then I got an email from her mom Julie that had in subject line"Megan has been healed". I'm thinking, "Okay, now, I'm excited!! It's for real!" The message went as follows:

"Last night Jesus performed a miracle. Megan was returning from The Call in Washington DC with a group of 50 young adults and college students when their bus broke down in the mountains in Virginia. They got stranded overnight in a small town in the mountains, so last night they decided to have a prayer/worship meeting when they spontaneously started praying over Megan for healing. Megan was praying in the Spirit and said she was kneeling before Jesus who told her to stand. At first she argued with him that she couldn’t and then someone started yelling “you’re standing”. (Megan was still talking with the Lord and hadn’t even realized she had stood).

She is now walking like nothing is wrong with her and says she is completely healed and told me over the phone that there is more but she wants to tell me in person. (She just left a few hours ago and won’t be home until tomorrow)

What an amazing testimony to our Lord!!!! Thank you for all of your prayers and support. Please pass this on to the people that know her because I do not have everyone’s email."

So, I'm passing this on to you. Many people in our prayer ministry prayed for Megan. It is so awesome to actually be witness to such an absolute miracle that no one can explain away. I am embarrasssed that I was a "doubting Thomas" at first but I am so humbled to be able to "see" with my own eyes something so special!

Our God does not always choose to heal physically or like in my case, he heals in increments. but, whatever is going on in our lives he promises to "use it for good". He heals us spiritually, he heals our relationships, he heals our hurts and heartaches. Many of us may never see complete physical healing or a radical miracle that Megan experienced. I think the real miracles in life are trusting in him even when we don't get it, when the pain is too much...when we step out in faith to say "God, I trust that you'll use this hard situation to further your will, I know that you love me with an unfailing love and, whatever it takes, I'm in."

I love this quote: "Beware in your prayers, above everything else, of limiting God, not only by unbelief, but by fancying that you know what He can do. Expect unexpected things, ‘above all that we ask or think’. Each time, before you Intercede, be quiet first, and worship God in His glory. Think of what He can do, and how He delights to hear the prayers of His redeemed people. Think of your place and privilege in Christ, and expect great things!" Andrew Murray

Megan expected great things. I tried to gently tell her it might not happen while praying it would. God forgive me for limiting you!!

Matthew 19:26: Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."

In Luke 4:14-30 Jesus was in the synagogue where he was instructed to read from Isaiah 61, which was a prophecy is His coming. Jesus told them that that prophecy was being fullfilled at that very time. The people got angry and drove him out of the town of Nazareth.
Many times we doubt or don't believe or DONT ALLOW God to give us blessings, love, joy....a miracle.
Our Lord God is bigger, holier, and mightier than we know!
Praise Jesus!!!
